SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!!!
YESSSSSSSSS! Huge night last night for Team 4....yes we never changed our team name. It was the first week of position rounds (there are two). It was first place vs second place. Well, we swept the other team. I came in focused and on a mission. I bowled okay but not overly great. I thought I was going to pull a monster series.
The first game I rolled a 190. We won the first game by 150 pins. One of my teammates bowled a 247. The second game was tight. I bowled a 176. We won by 20 pins. It came down to the anchors and our anchor had a turkey. Their spirit was dead the last game. That was good because I did not bowl too well. I was hitting well but pins were not falling. I ended with a 148. Again, this game came down to the anchors and we won by 15. I rolled a 514. It just felt good last night.
I have no idea what happened in the last game of 3 vs 4 but the third place team won the first two. So if they swept, it was us vs them for the championship of the 2nd half and we are up 3 points on them. If they lost the third game, we are up 5 points. I hope that is the case.
Bad note...I am MISSING next week. BOOOOOOOOOOO! I will be in California for work. This is killing me.

NBA
So, the playoffs started and I think my emotions got into my head when making predictions. I should have taken Utah. I could never root for them but Deron Williams is really good and their coach is one of the best ever. I have no idea what I was thinking.
Also, I hope everyone is watching the West playoffs. Suns/Spurs had a great playoff game and it was game one in the first round. Just wow! Also, Paul took over the Mavs in the 2nd half and carried the Hornets to the win. Nice first playoff game ever! Wow!

27 Holes
My Sunday started off brutal. I woke up at 6:45 am and Murphey picked me up at 7 sharp. We had a 8:10 tee time in Lincolnshire.
Well, 9 of the holes have water damage so you could only golf on 9 holes. It costs $25 for the nine and $5 for every nine after that. It was a nice course and no one was out there. It was awesome.
My game however is not awesome. I played pretty lousy. My driver which is usually prety consistent was just awful. My irons were okay. It was fun to finally break them in. I only topped one ball the whole time I was out there. That is good.
Since it was nice out and cheap, we decided to golf an extra 9. I officialy got done golfing at 2:45. It was crazy. I have never golfed more than 18 in a day before.
Well, the first golf of the year is out of the way. Next stop for me is Nashville!

NBA...just kidding...SWIMMING!
I saw this quick tutorial on using your body for propulsion while swimming and thought it was really good.
He is basically comparing swimming to throwing a baseball and how you use your whole body for the momentum.

More NBA
A quick comment before I get to the playoffs breakdown. The Celtics had the 'greatest turnaround' in NBA history. Lets not forget that last year they were tanking games at the end of the season in hopes of getting the number one pick. Signing Garnett and Allen was a huge plus with the turnaround but so was tanking games a lot of games.
EAST - Round 1
Celtics beat Hawks 4-0. This will be a joke of a series.
Pistons beat 76ers 4-2. The Pistons get a wake up call in this series.
Magic beat Raptors 4-2. Howard/Bosh matchup....fun!
Cavs beat the Wizards 4-2. No way LeBron lets his team depsite how bad lose in first series.
West - Round 1 - Just wow...this is crazy!
Lakers beat Nuggets 4-1. This is a bad matchup for the Nuggets. With Gasol, the Lakers have not problem running.
Mavs beat Hornets 4-3. As much as I love Paul and he will put up huge numbers in this series, his team will look to him too much because the talent around him is not that good. Dirk is starting to get that look about him again. Look out.
Rockets beat Jazz 4-3. Jazz are awful on the road. Plus I hate Carlos Boozer. Why did you not stay in Cleveland? ARGH! You stabbed a blind man in the back to boot!
Suns beat Spurs 4-3. Actually, I just dont know here. They got Shaq for this purpose. Amare is just awful defensively and always got in trouble trying to play Timmy. I love Duncan and I love Shaq. Who do I root for??????????
I will wait to do round 2 because my guess is that most of my picks are wrong.
Cheers

MVP Part II
Sport's guy came out with the 2nd part of his MVP Article. I really liked the article as I usually do when written by Sports guy.
He of course put Garnett #1 but I give him credit calling Garnett out for his faults. It will be quite interesting to see how the votes play out. All four of those guys had amazing years with impact on their teams.
I really think that the Phoenix conditioning coaches should get the MVP. I mean Grant Hill played in over 70 games and average 32 min a game without injury. Shaq is running better than ever and somehow Nash's back is holding up. How is that possible?
Here's to a great NBA playoffs.

NBA MVP
Clearly, my brother and I disagree on this point. I find it funny that he thinks the only two MVP worthy candidates are in the East (James and Garnett). I really think that the MVP race should be a three man race between Bryant, James and Paul. I think Garnett should be in 4th place in the voting.
I have been a Garnett fan since he was playing basketball with Ronnie Fields at Farragut. I have always loved his game. If I had to write down my top 10 favorite players ever, he would be on that list. 20-10-5...always. This year's statistics are very similar to every other year's statistics (if you pro-rate them for minutes played). Garnett missed 11 games this year, almost 1/7th of the year. What was the Celtics record? 9-2. Many nights, he is not even the most valuable player on his team. Ray Allen and more importantly Paul Pierce are great players that also play for the Celtics and carry the team as well. Garnett's biggest achilles heel (always has been) is that he does not take the big shot. He is more willing to pass the ball with the game on the line than demand it. The Celtics really did not have to worry much about that this year given ALL the talent on the team. Has Garnett instilled his will on the Celtics? Yes. Did he do that in Minnesota? Yes. Why does Garnett not have more MVP trophies then??? He is the same player he has always been but for some reason, this year is different. Not really.
Lebron may finish averaging 30/8/7. Well, if he does, he will be the third player ever to do it (Jordan and Oscar Robertson ). You can argue that he or Kobe (i really think James) are the two best individual basketball players on this planet. Not many people will disagree. Lebron's defense has really stepped up this year. His biggest problem is that the last team to have an MVP and not win 50 games was Mose Malone...has not happened in a while. Is that right? Well, it goes down to what you definition of MVP is? Best player on the planet or most valuable to your team.
End of a game, down one or two, I want the ball in either Kobe or Lebron's hands. No question about it. Kobe also plays better defense than anyone out there. He is the best defensive player out there. Do I like him as a person? No. He is amazing offensively and just as good defensively? Yes. Is his team the number one seed in the best conference? Yes. That says a lot and I see him being MVP.
One last thing people want in an MVP. Someone who makes his teammates better. This is the reason Nash won MVP not once but TWICE. Lets look at Paul. He is having a better year than Nash ever did with less talent. Before he got to the Hornets, they were talking about moving. David West was a nobody and Chandler was considered a bust. After one year, Chandler is playing for USA basketball team and West is most improved player(with his numbers going drastically up). The year after that, West is an All-Star and Chandler is considered for the All-Star game. This year, the Hornets were projected to be maybe the 8 seed. CP makes his teammates better. There is no question. He has the team fighting for the #1 seed in the West and has revived basketball in the city of New Orleans. No one means more to his team than Chris Paul.
With all this said and if you are still reading, consider me impressed. I really think Kobe wins the award this year. Does he deserve it? Well, that is up to the voters and I am not one.
Sidenote: The NBA is just loaded with talent right now. The MVP race right now is a 4 person race. Wow!

Weekend in Review
This weekend was actually quite action packed.
Friday
I had a pretty good workout and was heading into the first weekend in a long time where I would not be working out. Went to dinner at a fondue place. It was really good food...friday night was the boring night.
Saturday (two parts)
1. Woke up and went to the gym (forgot to do intervals on friday so did them sat morning). Got ready for the Sox game. Went to Iwanski house - he was playing wii bowling. We then went to Ploth's house - he was playing wii bowling. Soooo, all three of us played wii bowling and I fulfilled a long running dream - i drank warm tequila. The game was pretty miserable weather but the Sox were playing well. We met people down in the bar for innnings 4-9. After that, Ploth and I met Stacia and Michelle at 37th and Halsted
2. Michelle has the pleasure of driving down in the horrible conditions to DeMotte. We had a really good time down there. Although, Michelle maybe allergic to the whole state of Indiana...we are nto sure. The night consisted of cards, a few beers, karaoke, and a few more beers.
Sunday
Got home from Indiana in great time. Stopped at Steak and shake on the way home...so good! Watched the Masters for 4 hours on Sunday. It was awesome. Those greens were ridiculous. There may have been about 3 or 4 naps in there somewhere...I just do not rebound like I used to!
All in all, a very fun weekend. I am pretty pumped for next weekend! The Smiths are coming into town!

The Masters
Maybe it is because I am getting older, maybe it is because of Tiger Woods, maybe it is because of Wii, maybe it is something I really can not point to but I really like golf these days. I like watching it. I like playing it. I enjoy it.
The Masters started today. It is a signal that summer is right around the corner (which maybe good because my newly trimmed chest is quite white). I am excited to keep track of this tournament all weekend. I really hope Tiger wins. What I find crazy is that he is EXPECTED to win. How good of a player do you have to be that winning a grand slam is not exceeding a goal but only part of a goal?
He is that good and that fun to watch. Well, that is my opinion (which really means nothing).

Hair
Now, I never really had thick hair. As time passes by, my hair seems to get more "weak". I expected this. The writing was on the wall...thanks dad and mom...both sides of my parents have balding.
Why do I bring this up??? Well, as you know, recently I had an unfortunate shaving in the middle of my chest. So when we shaved my head (michelle shaves it...she does a great job), I decided we should trim up my chest hair. It would make the spot be less prevelant plus it would not itch if I do not shave it completely.
Let me do a simple comparison now. When we shave my head, the razor cuts through like a knife goes through hot butter. It jumps out when the razor gets close. The chest hair was a different story. it took about 6 swipes back and forth at each spot to make it work. It was like using butter knife to cut through the amazon forest.
It was a depressing experience....

Bowling
Well, bowling, as a team is going well. My bowling has gotten a little more stable and both teams I am on are doing okay.
Sunday - I did not bowl particularly well but I came through in the clutch. We won two out of three games and series. The last game we were up three pins going into the anchors spot. We were both on spares. She rolled a 9, spare and strike. I rolled two strikes and a 7 to secure the win by 10 pins. Now, if you look at this logically, Ploth really won the game for us. He rolled a 203. I ended up with a 152. Before the night, we were in 4th place.
Tuesday - I averages a 163 despite opening the 10th frame twice with single pin misses! ARGH! Yeah, we are still in first place and will be next week too! Only four or five more weeks to go!!!

An Apology
I really have no excuse. I have not posted a blog in a week because well, I am lazy. It is that simple. I really do not have that much to report. You will see a few new posts after this.
I am excited that TV is starting to pick up again! FINALLY! I am excited about Dish Network. Comcast's DVR was the absolute worst I have ever seen. Plus, I now have Fox soccer channel. This will keep me up on Liverpool.

Varicella vaccine
Well, I am 31 years old and I just got a shot of the varicella vaccine. Pretty amazing I went my whole life without getting varicella. Now, due to my many years on this earth, it is dangerous to get.
I am talking about the chicken pox. During last year's physical, I found out that I was not immune to the chicken pox. So, this year I got a shot and I have to go back for the second dose in about 6 weeks. I felt like it was 1908 and not 2008. I hope I am immune to polio.....

Adam Corrolla - Dancing with the Stars
I have to admit. I am a fan of dancing with the stars. If I had to watch it live, I would not be. This is a great show to fast forward through. There is a lot of garbage time. I have not watched all the seasons just the ones with celebrities I am interested in. Well, this season, Adam Corrolla is on the show.
He is good friends obviously with Jimmy Kimmel but also with Sports Guy. Before the season started, it was fun reading Sports Guy bash him in his articles and make fun of him on his podcasts. Well, Mr. Corrolla is no where near a dancer. Most of the celebrities they pick have some sort of dancing background or are highly athletic. Mr. Corrolla is neither of these and it is fun to watch a normal guy struggle with these dances. Amazing he has made it through the first two weeks of elimination.
If you have a chance to tape the show, I say do it. Adam Corrolla is always funny and you can always relate to the way he is struggling!
My guess though is that he will be voted off the show next week!

The US Dollar
The US dollar these days is very weak. A trip overseas is so expensive just because the pound is over 2 to 1 to the US dollar. Hell, the Euro is approaching 2 to 1. I mean the Canadian dollar is basically one to one! What is going on around here??? Well, I think I know the problem. We are using monopoly money for US dollars. When did this start. Look at this five dollar bill.

Seriously, who thought a GIANT PURPLE '5' would be a good idea? This is a travesty!

EKG
Okay, I have a little treat (or punishment) for my readers. My company covers a yearly physical if you are over 30 (a physical every three years if you are under 30). This physical is administered by Executive Health Exams. It blew me away last year how nice it was. The locker room, the clothes, the snack bar for after the blood work, everything was top notch. Of course, I found out each of these exams cost my company thousands of dollars. I digress.
One of the tests is resting heart rate and they hook you up to an EKG. The nurse informed me she had to shave part of my chest to do this test. I thought this was weird because last year they did not have to do this. I said no problem. Well, when I was changing back into work clothes, I noticed the shaving...

A heart...in the middle of my chest...are you kidding me!!! When I got home, I shaved a little more around it so it did not look like a heart. Luckily as of this morning, hair is already growing back at a rapid rate. Why does the top of my head not work like that???
If you don't think I am going to bury this blog with a couple more, then you do not know me.
You will have to excuse me. I have to go. My chest itches!

You will have to excuse me. I have to go. My chest itches!

Clinton makes a funny???
Make no mistake. I am not endorsing Hillary by any means. She did however make quite the funny yesterday on April fool's day. After Obama rolled a 37 on the bowling lanes (and I thought I was struggling!!!!!), Hillary came out and challenged him to a bowl off. The actual speech is quite funny. Here is an excerpt:
"It’s time for his campaign to get out of the gutter and allow all of the pins to be counted. "
If you want to read the whole thing, here you go.

Season starts well!
The Dodgers beat the Giants on opening day 5-0 and Brad Penny looked great. It is only one game out of 162. What really warmed my heart is the following:
Dodgers LF Juan Pierre, bypassed in favor of Andre Ethier, sat out the game, which ended his consecutive-games streak at 434.
The Dodgers are FINALLY realizing the truth. Both Juan and Nomar did not play which is a good thing. Lets keep them on the bench. Let the KIDS PLAY!
