I want to talk about two shows, Top Chef and Biggest Loser. These are two "reality" shows I do love watching.
Let us first start with Biggest Loser. Before I get into this season , hat scares me the most about Biggest Loser is that people think the show is about showing healthy living. All reality tv is a GAME. This is not different. Coach Dos actually wrote a great blog about this. I highly recommend reading it. I enjoy games. I enjoy these reality tv shows.
After the first few episodes, I have come to realize that these trainers have a HUGE EGOS. Get off your high horse. You are working with people that are ridiculously obese. You have them 24/7. You have them eating 1,200 calories a day. You are not the world's greatest weight loss trainer Jillian. You happen to work in a very unique environment. I was bummed the Red team left. I thought both guys had a great chance of winning. Tracey is crazy. I really have no other way of putting it. She is CRAZY. I really do not have a favorite yet. Red team was my fav. It will be interesting to see how this season plays out. After a couple more weeks, I will form a better opinion on the 5 minutes I see of each of their lives because that is what I do!
Top Chef - Now this is a reality tv show that embraces the game. Quickfires are at the beginning for prizes and main meals are done usually at random places for the elimination each week. On a side note, we have a bet with the Neyers (also avid watchers of this show). Each of us picked a chef to win it all. The losing family has to send a food from their city (i.e. Chicago style pizza if we lose) to the winning team's house. I love gambling. Lets just say that Neyer is already out (never trust the French!!!! I tried to warn you). I am not far behind probably. The final episode could come down to Michelle and Jessica's picks (the brothers).
As for this season, I really like the brothers and either of them could win. I really think the final four is going to be Michael Voltaggio, Bryan Voltaggio, Jennifer Carroll and Kevin Gillespie. My pick, Eli, has floated in the middle since the beginning. Eventually, he will be gone. Anyway, there could be a slip up between now and then but it would not surprise me if that is your final four.
Another reason I like this show is that it gives us ideas of restaurants to check out. Top Chef Master's winner was Rick Bayless. His specialty is Mexican and he is from Chicago. Well, Michelle and I went to one of his restaurants, Topolobampo since the show and are heading to Frontera grill in about 10 days! Spike who was a contestant on the show a few years ago has a eatery in DC. We headed there last weekend with Kathryn. Loved it! The show really does give you good ideas for places to eat. How can you not love that?
Anyway, I really hope Bryan (Jess' pick) gets knocked out on a screw up soon so we can celebrate our victory over the 'Nati folk but I do not see it.
Yeah reality tv! Happy Thursday!

I didn't know there was no TC this week. I practically cried myself to sleep.
What kind of classic 'Nati food would they have to send? Skyline Chili?
