Yes, it is already Wednesday. Yes, it is time for the weekly top 5 list. I have to give credit where credit is due. Big Z gave me this idea yesterday and it spurred conversation yesterday at work and at McGee's last night (10 cent wing night). Today's list is top 5 WORST movie sequels. One caveat, it must be the 2nd movie (Rocky V does not count). Also, be sure to take the difference in movies. What I mean is if the first one was not very good did you really expect the 2nd one to be?
Here is my list.
1. Caddyshack 2 - The first one is an all-time great movie. This one...should have never been made. I have a feeling this movie will be near the top of everyone's list.
2. Blues brothers 2000 - Really? Making a sequel for a movie decades later is a good idea??? The original is a classic, a masterpiece. This one is complete garbage.
3. Teen Wolf 2 - Jason Bateman...Michael J Fox you are not. That is all I can really say.
4. Major League II - Again, the first movie is so good and this one is huge drop off of the original.
5. Weekend at Bernie's 2 - He is dies in the first movie but I am supposed to believe his body is not decaying or smelling for the 2nd one. Really???
There are a few that did not make my list because I never saw them like The Sting 2, Staying Alive, Dumb and Dumberer and Slap Shot 2.
A special shout out goes to Die Hard II. After having this conversation last night, when people got home, this movie was on HBO and I know of at least two people that watched it because we were talking about sequels. Nice timing!

A very underrated sequel (the opposite of your list, I know) is Halloween 2. It starts off exactly where the first one ended, making it basically a two-part movie. Since the first one may be the best horror movie (and definitely the best slasher movie) ever made, this movie is almost as good.
that's an excellent list tool! one year for christmas i bough andy caddyshack and caddyshack II assuming that they were equals. he very quickly told me that caddyshack II sucks and was basically a very bad gift. whoops.

I agree with Michelle's list (excellent!) except for DD Havana Nights. I LOVE that movie! Not of the same caliber as the original, but a guilty pleasure nonetheless.
About a year ago, I watched Pitch Black. What an awesome movie! A couple of nights ago, I watched Chronicles of Riddick. What a crap fest! They managed to reference Jack from the first movie and in the second movie, not only is Jack played by a different girl in the second movie, but she also goes by a different name, Kyra. Wait, WHAT?
Does a sucky sequel count if the first movie sucked too? I watched National Lampoon's Dorm Daze. Somehow I managed to follow that up with NL's Dorm Daze 2: Semester at Sea. As usual, I am an idiot.
I just thought of one that couldn't come to mind earlier.
Jeepers Creepers was an excellent horror movie, I thought. The whole key was give away as little about the villain as possible until they had to.
Then I was watched Jeepers Creepers 2. Wow, what a pile of feces. It was a completely different movie, and in a very bad way.
So if you ever feel like watching the two Jeepers Creepers movies, just watch the second one again instead.
I too agree with Michelle's list. I did not see DD 2 so I will replace that with Caddyshack 2. I will also replace JP2 with BB 2000.
