Fantasy Football / Denver Broncos

I think people play fantasy football for various reasons but it is a clear one for me. It is easily for the camaraderie of it. Honestly, once the actual season starts, I am not that into the whole thing. I mean I keep my roster up and look for trades or players to pick up. However, the best part of fantasy football is the draft. I am in two leagues and I will stay in those leagues for sure.

The first league I have been in for 14 years. The draft is always the Sunday of labor day weekend at my brother's house. People travel from all over such as California, North Carolina, and Oklahoma. These are guys I literally see once a year. We eat too much, drink too much and have a great time doing it. It is always one of my favorite days of the year.

The second league I am in started a couple years ago and is mainly friends from college. Now, we do not get together in a single location but it is a giant conference call that last for hours. This year a few of us that are in Chicago got together at my house. We did the draft from my rooftop with some beer and pizza. It was a great time and hopefully we will do it again next year.

I would never be in a fantasy football league whose draft is done by the computer. The best part of fantasy football is the draft!

Now, let us move on to the 3-0 Denver Broncos. They have a really tough schedule but opened with an easy few games (although Cinci is looking like a really good team). Denver needed to go 3-0 and they did. They needed to dominate bad teams and they have. I mean they have done everything that has been asked of them. Their defense is looking so much better this year. Their next 5 games are ridiculous but even if they can go 2-3 I would be happy. I also love Moreno. He is a good young running back! As much turmoil as the Broncos has in the off season, I am happy the season is here. I also LOVED that Shannon Sharpe parachuted into the first home game this year. Of course, he is not in the hall of fame because Broncos are not allowed but that did not stop Pat Bowen from retiring his number for the Broncos. It is much deserved! You can consider me cautiously optimistic. I mean if the Broncos can sweep the Raiders and the Chiefs, that would put them at 6 wins. Even if the go 2-8 the rest of the games, that is an 8-8 record. Who would have guessed them not to have a losing record at the beginning of the year? Not me!

Happy Monday!
